Lexus race car driver Akira Iida tweeted a photo yesterday, referring to it as his next challenge but saying little more.
Showing a race-preped LFA supercar, the vehicle in question is remarkably similar-looking to an LFA GTE prototype that was spotted in the Toyota Motorsport headquarters in Germany. There are slight differences with this car, nevertheless, the two look almost identical.
Previous rumors suggested that the car would race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but more recent speculation suggested that the LFA GTE car might run in the Nurburgring 24 Hours. In the past, Lexus has raced the LFA at the German endurance classic, though in a class for factory cars, not in the all-out GTE race car category.
Lexus is denying those plans so far, but there’s still plenty of time for that to change.
