Porsche is celebrating the breaking of ground for a new Experience center in Shanghai, adjacent to the Shanghai International Circuit F1 track, that should be completed by 2014.
The Porsche experience center incorporates a handling circuit, slalom module and low-friction circle that will be used to show off the handling capabilities of Porsche vehicles. In addition, a three-story training center is also being built on site. Both past and future customers, as well as enthusiasts can enjoy the Experience Center, which has been a goal of Porsche China for some time.
This is the first Experience Center to open in China, and in all of Asia, and joins an exclusive list of just two others, located in Leipzig, Germany and Silverstone, England.
The opening of the Chinese Porsche Experience Center further cements the German luxury brand’s commitment to the Chinese market, in which it enjoyed a 68.8 percent sales increase in 2011.
“This new facility will join a selective group of other Experience Centers worldwide, built to reward our most loyal customers, and China was the next natural choice,” said Matthias Mueller, CEO of Porsche AG.
