Continued rumors of a GT86 Convertible may be confirmed or denied this coming March when Toyota is rumored to debut the drop-top sports car at the Geneva Motor Show.

Expected to use a retractable soft top rather than a hard top, both to save weight and to ensure tight packaging, what isn’t clear is if Toyota will opt to delete the two rear seats, making it a roadster.

While power output is likely to remain at the 200 hp mark from the 2.0-liter boxer 4-cylinder, the suspension may get softer to better match the reduced chassis rigidity.

Toyota has yet to confirm a GT86 or Scion FR-S Convertible, and past reports have actually pointed to it not coming to the US market.

What is confirmed, however, is a higher performance version of the car, which may use a KERS-style hybrid system to boost power, rather than a more conventional turbocharger or supercharger.
