Drivers in New York have a new reason to buy a Ford C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid, as the State announced today that it has cleared the C-Max Energi for its “Clean Pass” vehicle carpool lane access program.
Clean Pass, a New York State program that promotes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, ruled that the C-Max Energi is clear to use the entire 40-mile stretch of the Long Island Expressway in the carpool lane. This will help drivers get into, and out of the downtown core quicker.
To qualify, cars must be rated to at least 45 mpg on the highway, and be classified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as super ultra-low emission vehicles. The C-Max Energi is rated at 108 MPGe city, 92 MPGe highway and 100 MPGe combined.
