Back in September, Nissan kicked off its “Innovation Garage” competition with two grand prize winners netting themselves a $50,000 grant and a 2013 Altima.
Those grand prize winners have been announced with Andrew Saldana of Downey, California and Ryan Helsel of Durham, North Carolina taking home the $50,000 grants and brand new Nissan Altimas. Their two concepts were chosen by a panel of engineering and product development experts along with Nissan executive leadership.
Saldana’s idea was called “Dreamwork” and was a device to help promote learning while sleeping. The other winner, Helsel, came up with “Low-Tech Bedsore Prevention” which was an affordable system to help reduce the bedsores of patients in developing countries.
Kyle Vath of Cincinnati on the other hand will get himself a new 2013 Nissan Altima for his idea, which fans selected as their favorite. His idea was a “Non-Emergency Medical Response Unit” that intends to reduce inappropriate use of hospital emergency room services.
The Japanese automaker will work with the two grand prize winners to promote their ideas on Kickstarter.com.
