In an effort to jazz up its lame lineup, the folks at smart showed off a new special-edition model at the Detroit Auto Show today. The cityflame package is the latest in a long line of special models from Daimler’s economy-minded brand.
The car’s vibrant-yellow bodywork contrasts against an array of black-colored elements including parts of the “tridion” safety cell and the wee-car’s mirror caps. Black BRABUS wheels are included in the cityflame package.
Designers tried to spice the interior up like a extra-hot order of chicken vindaloo , but sadly they fell far short of this famous Indian dish. The end result has about as much sizzle as an order of soggy flapjacks. Some of the upgrades implemented include special black seats with yellow accent stitching, a three-spoke leather “sports” steering wheel and custom floor mats emblazoned with the cityflame logo.

The smart fortwo cityflame arrives at dealer showrooms this summer. They’ll be offered with either a 71 or 84 horsepower engine. Only about 2,400 of them will be made so if this special-edition two-seater appeals you (and if you don’t hate yourself we sincerely hope it doesn’t) you’d better inquire early and often.
