Needless to say, Audi’s RS5 is an exciting car thanks in no small part to its 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8.
Open-air addicts might not feel like that’s quite enough to please, though, and starting in 2014, there’s an answer to that – the 2014 RS5 Cabriolet. Packing the same drivetrain – and the same thrills – but with a soft top.
That translates to 450 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque pumping through Audi’s rear-biased Quattro all-wheel drive. Audi’s RS vehicles are typically only in production for a short period of time – think one to two years – helping to encourage the get-it-while-its-hot mentality.
Audi hasn’t said what the Cabriolet’s top speed is, but it seems likely that the car will come in somewhat lower than the coupe’s 174 mph limit.
Shifting occurs through Audi’s seven-speed S-tronic transmission which can shift itself, or can be changed into manual mode for fast gear changes via wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
