Lexus will be unveiling a new suite of autonomous vehicle technology at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and today the brand released a very short clip showing off a driverless Lexus LS.
The system uses on-board radar and cameras to monitor not only the road, but other vehicles and even the driver. This LS is being used to test autonomous systems as part of the Toyota Motor Company’s Integrated Safety Management Concept, which ultimately aims to to reduce traffic related deaths to zero.
Lexus group VP and general manager Mark Templin will discuss Toyota’s Intelligent Transport Systems, as well as research and development including its vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications technology at CES on January 7.
