Brand boss Mark Reuss said during the Detroit Auto Show that “it’s on the list” while speaking with Australian CarSales.com.au.
Last year, GM brought a small rear-wheel drive concept car called the Code 130R to Detroit that could be a likely blueprint candidate for the car. Should that be the case, it could be built on the maker’s Alpha platform which currently underpins the Cadillac ATS and is scheduled for the next Camaro.
“We would do something with the knowledge of Alpha and the background, but we wouldn’t take Alpha and try and shrink it,” Reuss said.
It might make sense for GM to launch a car that would compete with the Scion and Subaru products, but with little more than rumors rumbling, it’s hard to imagine it on the market any time soon.
