If you’re a fan of either the Volkswagen Touareg or Tiguan there’s a little bit of good news coming your way: both vehicles are getting the R-Line treatment.
Until now, Volkswagen only offered the R-Line package – which amounts mostly to special appearance trim – to the CC and Beetle. However, the brand’s latest announcement means both of the brand’s utility vehicles will be available in the upgraded trim for the 2014 model year.
Starting with the Tiguan, Volkswagen’s sports package will add unique 19-inch wheels along with a stiffened suspension, although the drivetrain remains unchanged. There will also be body-colored side skirts with chrome trim, wider wheel arches and a rear spoiler and an R-Line badge on the grille.
The interior also gets a series of special appointments including a flat-bottomed steering wheel, paddle shifters, aluminum pedals and a black headliner.
Similarly, the larger Touareg keeps the same gasoline and diesel engines. Just as in the Tiguan, VW includes an upgraded suspension and, in this case, 20-inch wheels. A unique front fascia further characterizes the car along with R-Line badges and oval-shaped dual exhaust pipes.
It also gets high gloss black and aluminum trim in the cabin a sport steering wheel.
VW says both models will be available in the R-LIne trim in the third quarter of 2013, but that pricing will be announced closer to the launch.
