Mercedes CLA Edition 1 Headed to Europe

To celebrate the launch of its new CLA-Class, Mercedes is offering a limited “CLA Edition 1” to buyers in Europe.

The special edition model will only be available for 12 months and can be combined with any engine offering on the CLA. The German automaker is taking orders starting immediately for the CLA Edition 1 with pricing starting at around $47,400 (35,402.50 euros).

Setting the CLA Edition 1 apart from the standard model will be AMG front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and black-painted wheels. A lowered sports suspension and Bi-Xenon headlights will be standard while the diamond radiator grille features a black fin and chrome inserts.

Inside, the Neon Art interior will be exclusive to the special model featuring upholstered seats in leather and black microfiber Dinamica with yellow contrast stitching. The instrument panel receives a similar treatment with Artico man-made leather while the three-spoke steering wheel is wrapped in nappa leather with a flattened bottom section.

The CLA Edition 1 will be available in mountain grey, cosmos black, night black, cirrus white, or designo polar silver magno.

Mercedes took the marketing genius from Kia and Hyundai. The success of the Kia Optima
fueled debate among Mercedes to reduce pricing on a new front wheel drive vehicle to compete in the mid size segment of $30k vehicles. The CLA is a stunning design but still underpowered with a Hyundai KIa base engine hp rating. The Kia and Hyundai have the award winning 2.0 liter GDI Turbo with 274 hp and 269 ft lbs of torque at a mere 1750 rpms and it returns 34 mpg high way. When Mercedes ups the hp and torque the pricing will be in a upward trend. Good job Mercedes.
