Change is good, or so they say. Sometimes it’s also hard to accept. That is true of the 2014 Porsche GT3, the iconic sports car of car enthusiasts, which is no longer available with a manual transmission.
Unveiled today at the Geneva Motor Show, the new GT3 gets a big bump in power to 475 hp at a lofty 9000 rpm. With no manual it will be offered exclusively with a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, enabling a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 3.3 seconds.
Another big addition is a rear-wheel steering system that can turn the rear tires up to 1.5 degrees, turning with the front tires at high speeds, and against the rear tires at low speeds.
These advances mean the 2014 GT3 can now run the Nurburgring in a lap time under 7:30.
Priced at $130,400 it will hit dealers late this year.
