Light on details, Toyota has announced its next-generation Highlander mid-size SUV will debut at the New York Auto Show in two weeks time.
Based on Toyota’s current product strategy, expect a more design-focused vehicle, adapting traits from the recently released 2013 RAV4. As for powertrains, like the Camry it’s likely to retain its 3.5-liter V6 engine. What isn’t clear is if Toyota will adopt the RAV4’s smaller 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (compared to the current 2.7-liter unit) in an effort to save fuel.

Another possibility is the RAV4’s “Sport” and “Eco” drive modes, that adjust car responses such as throttle pressure and steering.
Toyota will debut the new third-generation Highlander on Wednesday, March 27th. Until then, see AutoGuide’s complete 2013 NY Auto Show Preview here.
