Audi has just unveiled its S3 Sedan ahead of its official reveal at the 2013 New York Auto Show.

An absolutely gorgeous and sporty sedan, the 2015 Audi S3 is powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI engine with 296 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Paired with the S tronic transmission, the S3 accelerates to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds while the manual transmission takes 5.3 seconds. The top speed will be electronically limited at 155 mph. Fuel consumption is expected to be around 34 mpg combined.

Compared to the A3, the S3 will sit an inch lower thanks to sportier suspension, while larger brakes helps it stop as well as it accelerates. Standard on the S3 will be Audi drive select vehicle dynamics system, while the German automaker’s magnetic ride damper control system is available as an option.

Aesthetically, the S3 sports a more aggressive design with modifications to the bumpers, a single-frame grille, air intakes, exterior mirror housings, side sills, and rear spoiler. In the rear, a quad-tipped oval exhaust system finished in chrome fit comfortably in the rear diffuser. As for the interior, Audi will offer sport seats with optional S sport seats, instruments with grey dials and trim strips in a black 3D look.

U.S. deliveries of the Audi S3 Sedan will begin in summer 2014.

The S3 will start around 39K in the US. It goes to 0-60 in 4.7 Seconds. Now my question is that wouldn’t this kill the A4? A well equipped A4 goes for around 44-45K MSRP but only gets 0-60 in 5.8 – 6.2 S. I guess the only reason you’d buy an A4 / S4 over the S3 is for that little extra room. Just my personal opinion.

Not sure it’s fair to compare the S3 to an A4. Now you make a fair point with regards to the S3 versus S4. If (and this is a big if) the S3 has performance figures and 0-60 times as stated above, it’s a no brainier to pick up the S3 (who cares about 2″ of extra leg room anyway?). But knowing Audi, they will be sure to drop performance on the S3 to avoid cannibalization of S4 sales. Let’s hope we can get a sub 40K price point on the S3.

Just saw the S3 and may want that version instead of hte standard A3. Can anyone tell me what they heard about the pricing for the 2015 S3? I find that there are varying starting prices for the A3; between $28K and $32K. But nothing on the S3.

It’s about time VW has made the Golf R a little closer in competition to the Japanese cars in its class. The availability of dsg transmission in the US will certainly not hurt sales either, as enthusiasts like myself have come to accept and even appreciate the quick shifts and easy operation of a dual clutch transmission.
