The Audi A3 will be unveiled as a sedan this week at the NY Auto Show, and eventually it will be offered as a convertible, a car which our spy photographers managed to snap some pics of testing in Germany.
The current A3 convertible is based on the hatchback body style, which isn’t nearly as good looking as some of its prettier contemporaries like the Mercedes-Benz A- and CLA-Class. This new A3 convertible looks as though it borrowed most of its styling from the current A5 convertible.
Three engines, a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, a more powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter and a diesel option, are rumored to be available with the A3 sedan, all of which will likely transfer over to the convertible. A hotter S3 convertible will also eventually be available, and is said to make about 300 hp.
The official debut of the Audi A3 Convertible is likely before the end of the year, and could happen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
