Subaru announced a recall today that affects about 47,419 vehicles, regarding issues with the key fob that can cause the vehicles to start when the key FOB is dropped.

The recall affects automatic or CVT-equipped 2012-2013 Imprezas, 2010-2013 Legacy and Outback models, and 2013 XV Crosstreks.

In the event that the fob is dropped, it may malfunction and cause the vehicle to start on its own and idle for 15 minutes. The engine may then continue to stop and start every 15 minutes until the battery in the fob is dead or the car runs out of gas.

Subaru will replace the fob free of charge for affected customers. Owners may contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783 for more information.
