Toyota is issuing a safety recall for owners of 2007-2013 FJ Cruisers to correct an issue on the rear door panel.
Approximately 209,000 Toyota FJ Cruisers are affected by the recall, which is due to the insufficient strength of the rear door panel. On the FJ Cruiser, the seatbelt retractors for the driver and passenger seatbelts are mounted onto the rear access doors and cracks may develop over a period of time if the rear door is repeatedly and forcefully closed shut.
Cracks could occur in the panel around the lower seatbelt retractor anchor and the retractor could become detached.
According to the Japanese automaker, no accidents or injuries have been reported related to the issue and owners of the vehicles affected will be contacted through standard mail.
