Porsche announced today that it will serve as the sole automotive sponsor for the fourth annual Turner Classic Movies Film Festival to celebrate the 911 sports car’s 50th anniversary.
The event sponsorship will be part of the brand’s year-long celebration of its flagship sports car. During the festival, the 1971 racing movie Le Mans, regarded as one of the best racing movies of all time, will be screened. The showing will take place on the April 27 — the third day of the festival.
“Le Mans is one of the most well-known touchstones of the Porsche brand in cinema and popular culture,” said Detlev von Platen, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, Inc. “Our rich motorsport history, coupled with our return to Le Mans in 2014, made this partnership a natural fit.”
Chad McQueen, Steve McQueen’s son, and former Porsche motorsport drivers Derek Bell and Vic Elford will talk about making the film exclusively with festival pass holders.
