BMW is bringing its new X4 Concept to the Shanghai Auto Show later this week, and today the brand released a new set of photos to show off the coupe styled crossover.
The X4 is based on the same platform as the X3, though it gets styling cues more akin to a coupe. In comparison with the other BMW sports activity coupe, the X6, the X4 is 8.9 inches shorter, 2.8 inches lower and actually 2.8 inches wider.
The front end of the X4 still features BMW’s famous kidney grilles, with gloss-black and chrome surrounds, while flared fenders with matte black cladding and the low stance of the concept give it some sporting appeal. Completing the looks is 21-inch bi-colour light-alloy wheels, all of which will be powered thanks to BMW’s XDrive all-wheel drive system.
Engine choices will probably mirror the X3, which means a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit along with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder gas powerplant are likely for the U.S. market. A 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel might also be available.
