The Nissan Versa is $50 cheaper than the Mazda 2, and it’s not hard to see why. With a basic, drab interior, the Nissan’s only saving grace is that it comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, a luxury compared to the five-speed transmissions found in most of these cheap hatches.     If you max out the Kia Rio and the Hyundai Accent, the Rio actually costs more. The Rio and the Accent are sister cars with little difference beside price. The Mazda 2 shares the platform but gets it all wrong by coming up short on power.
