The next-generation Audi TT is scheduled to launch next year as a 2015 model and the German automaker is planning to return the car to its roots.
Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, the third-generation TT will remain faithful to the first iteration of the sports car. Audi took a slight risk going with a more conservative approach with the current TT, which hasn’t been a stunning hit compared to its predecessor. As a result, look for something more original in the 2015 model.
As for what we can expect when the 2015 TT makes an appearance, it’ll be powered by the Volkswagen Group’s new EA888 2.0-liter, turbo-four with 220 hp. Meanwhile, the TTS will bring 300 hp of pure performance and the top-of-the-line TT RS will provide 380 hp. As expected, the next-generation TT will be available in both front- and Quattro all-wheel drive.
The interior will also be a simpler version of what’s offered now with more modern technology such as TFT screen instrumentation. One year after the TT coupe makes its way to dealers, the convertible variant will follow.
