Infiniti President Johan de Nysschen is counting an expanded crossover line among key aspects for the luxury brand’s global growth strategy.
That strategy, if it goes as planned, will see Infiniti expand sales from its current 160,000 unit level to 600,000 by the end of the decade, de Nysschen said.
“We will also in the future, introduce models above where the Q70 stops today, the Q70 being the former M,” De Nysschen said today during the line off ceremony for the new Q50 sedan at Infiniti’s Tochigi assembly plant. “In our crossover range, we can imagine significant additions to that lineup as well.”
Most recently, Infiniti introduced its new JX crossover, which will be called QX60 under the brand’s new naming structure for the 2014 model year.
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn has charged de Nysschen with boosting the brand’s sales to 500,000 by 2016.
