McLaren continues to have it sights set on a new Nurburgring lap record, with rumors swirling that it could be targeting a lap time as low as 6:30.
That shockingly low time comes from a presentation to Chinese media, with a track clock showing a 6:33.26. McLaren has, however, gone on the record saying that its real goal is anywhere below the seven minute mark and it’s not believed an official time has been recorded as of yet.
To put that time into perspective the current record by a production car is a 6 minute 48 second lap of the Green Hell by the Radical SR8LM. Essentially a road-going racing prototype, the best lap held by something more closely resembling a street car is a 7:12 set by the Dodge Viper ACR.
