Joining all the other vehicles in this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb is the Volkswagen XL1, driven by Formula 1 legend and six-time Le Mans winner, Jacky Ickx.

The XL1 is a unique car, claiming 261 mpg making it the most fuel-efficient car in the world. Powered by a 47-hp, two-cylinder turbo-diesel engine mated to a 27 hp electric motor, the XL1 won’t speed up the Goodwood hill, but will gather attention with its unusual style.

Joining the XL1 will be the German automaker’s Polo WRC car that will be piloted by outgoing VW board member Ulrich Hackenberg. Volkswagen will also have its new Golf GTI and GTD on display at the show.

The 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place between July 10 through July 14.
