Volkswagen will limit the number of special edition Beetle GSR coupes to 3,500 worldwide.
The company announced pricing today for its mildly more powerful turbo Beetle starting from $29,995 for the stick or $31,095 for the dual-clutch automatic before delivery. Volkswagen tweaked the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine to make 210 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque; a 10-hp bump from the normal turbo Beetle. The top speed is electronically limited to 130 mph.
Other highlights for the special edition model include 19-inch “tornado” wheels, GSR livery and a big rear spoiler.
Inside, VW continues the black and yellow color scheme with GSR lettering stitched into the seats and badged on the dashboard. Other equipment for the car is shared with the R-Line, which means it comes with a standard sun roof, Fender audio system, navigation, a push button start and more. The cars also get a special leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with an individual number marking its place in the limited run.
