BMW announced five new approved iPhone applications for its “BMW Apps,” expanding the list of compatible smartphone programs owners can access through their car.

Drivers can access new subscription music services, audio books and Glympse: a temporary location-sharing service.

“Personally, I myself am a big fan of Glympse. On my way home from work in the evening I can send my wife a Glympse and she knows when to expect me back,” said Uwe Higgen, head of the BMW App Center in Munich, Germany.

BMW uses its iDrive controller to integrate the apps with the car’s interface, and Higgen says the company is talking to more developers to grow the library further.

“So our customers can look forward to some more surprises very soon,” he said.

Aside from Glympse, BMW added compatibility for Deezer, Napster, TuneIn and Audible.
