It is no secret that Cadillac is planning to bring a “V” version of the ATS to the market, and it will sport a twin-turbo V6 when it arrives.
This strategy will help Cadillac keep its sports cars separate as the larger CTS-V is expected to come with a supercharged V8, an engine that was initially rumored for the ATS-V. Instead, Caddy’s smaller sport sedan will get the twin-turbo V6 that will make somewhere around 420 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Cadillac’s larger XTS Vsport also uses this motor, but it makes slightly less power in that car, rated at 410 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
A manual transmission is also reported as an option for this car according to Car and Driver, especially good news considering reports that the ATS-V’s biggest rival, the BMW M3, may arrive in 2014 without a three-pedal option.
Timing for the launch of the ATS-V is still unknown.
