Subaru BRZ tS Model Becomes Official in Japan

First rumored to be a BRZ STI model, the Subaru BRZ tS has become official in Japan with sales starting immediately.

The BRZ tS is tuned by Subaru Tecnica International (STI) but isn’t the hardcore, performance model enthusiasts have been clamoring for. Instead, Japanese buyers are treated to the tS model which the Japanese automaker says “offers a driver oneness with vehicle and agile handling pleasure.”

Essentially, instead of pumping performance under the hood, STI pumped performance into the handling and aerodynamics of the car. A larger-diameter driveshaft along with a huge collection of STI suspension parts transforms the BRZ’s already capable handling to something even more aggressive and superior. Brembo disc brakes with the STI logo on the calipers were also bolted on along with 18-inch aluminum wheels. Exterior additions include an STI designed front under spoiler, fender garnish, and STI and tS emblems.

The interior also gets some exclusive items, including STI stitched seats with Alcantara and gray leather, STI designed shift knob, speedometer visor, carbon tone instrument panel, push engine switch in red with STI logo, and exclusive sill plates with the tS logo.

As we reported before, a maximum of 500 units of the tS will be produced, with half of them allocated for the GT Package which adds a dry carbon fiber rear spoiler, black BBS wheels, and Recaro front seats.

No pricing was announced on the 2014 Subaru BRZ tS.
