Alongside its stablemate the Silverado HD, the new 2015 GMC Sierra HD has just been revealed at the Texas State Fair.
Just like the Silverado HD, the Sierra HD has adopted its new looks from the 2014 GMC Sierra half-ton, adding inlaid doors to improve aerodynamics while making the interior of the truck quieter at high speeds along with a new grille design and some minor changes to the sheet metal. The new design also adds two more inches of rear-seat legroom in both of the General’s new HDs.
The 380 hp 6.0-liter V8 still stands in as the base engine option while the customer who needs to haul serious weight can opt for the 6.6-liter turbodiesel that pumps out 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque.

The 2015 Sierra HD is rated to haul 7,374 pounds, while the conventional hitch can pull 19,600 pounds. On the fifth-wheel hitch, the truck will handle 23,200 pounds. To help the Sierra tow this all that weight, auto grade braking, integrated cruise control and a diesel exhaust brake have all been installed on the truck.
The interior of the Sierra HD takes its cues from the 2014 Sierra half-ton, and now features a 4.2-inch in the info cluster, and eight-inch touchscreen in the center stack, GMC’s Intellilink infotainment system, a new center stack layout and large rubberized toggle switches. For connectivity, all GM trucks can now be outfitted with a 110-volt outlet, up to five USB ports, four 12-volt outlets and an SD card slot.
