Hyundai has announced that its new all-wheel drive (AWD) system will be called HTRAC, and that it will debut on the next generation Genesis sedan.
The 2015 Genesis will debut in Korea sometime before the end of this year, and is expected to make its North American debut at the upcoming 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
Hyundai says that the HTRAC setup will be unlike traditional AWD system that provide limited torque split between front and rear wheels, as HTRAC will feature selectable driving modes that tailor setup to the driver’s needs.
The ‘H’ in HTRAC stands for Hyundai, while ‘TRAC’ is simply a short from for traction. Hyundai says that HTRAC will be introduced to more of its vehicles in the future, all of which will get an exterior HTRAC badge.
The new Genesis has already been previewed by the HCD-14 Concept (seen above), which made its debut at last year’s Detroit Auto Show.
