Toyota Sedans Recalled for Wiper Switch Defect

Toyota announced a recall today affecting approximately 10,000 vehicles from the 2013 and 2014 model years.

Defective wiper  switches are causing trouble this time, potentially plaguing people who bought both the Camry and Avalon in regular or hybrid form. The Corolla is also included.

Certain contacts on the switch terminal could have been manufactured incorrectly, which could lead to a short if the wiper is moved from “off” to the “mist” setting and a car without functioning wipers.

Toyota says it will notify owners by mail, asking them to bring the cars to a dealer for a switch replacement.
