The 2014 SRT Viper TA will begin arriving U.S. dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2013 and will be limited to just 159 units.
For the 2014 model year, the SRT Viper TA will be offered in TA Orange (93 units), Venom Black (33 units) and Bright White (33 units). The 2013 SRT Viper TA was limited to just 33 units, all in TA Orange. Powered by an 8.4-liter V10 engine, the SRT Viper TA will boast 640 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque, but the special edition model also includes a fine collection of upgrades to make it more than track ready.
“The new 2014 SRT Viper TA is engineered for the serious performance enthusiast who needs a car that can be driven daily yet has mind-boggling limits on a road course that would rival many track-only cars,” said SRT CEO Ralph Gilles.
For starters, the two-mode Bilstein DampTronic suspension system features a unique race-tuned calibration while the springs, shocks and sway bars are all retuned compared to the standard SRT Viper. A lighter, carbon fiber structural X-brace replaces the standard aluminum brace under the hood, tying the four corners of the engine compartment together. This helps contribute to the 50 percent increase in torsional rigidity and stiffness across the Viper lineup.
Next, there are the new two-piece Brembo rotors and pads that help optimize heat dissipation, providing improved extreme use. And of course there’s the Advanced Aerodynamics Package that includes carbon fiber front splitters and a rear spoiler to increase downforce at high speeds, with up to a 700-percent increase at 150 mph.
Weighing in at 3,390 lbs, the SRT Viper TA is one mean machine for the streets that can easily compete even with more expensive sports cars on the track.
