General Motors is about to re-enter the mid-size truck segment with its Chevrolet Colorado, which you can see today even though it was meant to debut tomorrow.
Information about the truck is still being kept under wraps, but a single image of Chevrolet’s newest utilitarian cargo hauler leaked in a video shown by Edmunds.
General Motors already confirmed with the truck will be offered with a diesel engine, although the company may choose between either a 2.5- or 2.8-liter turbo diesel, both of which are offered in global versions of the Colorado. The larger version seems like a more likely choice for the U.S. market, which is traditionally biased toward bigger and more powerful engines.
On the other hand, the leaked image does reveal that Chevrolet didn’t stick with the same styling seen on the Colorado sold in other markets. Instead, it wears a boxier front end more akin to the Silverado and other half-ton trucks currently for sale in North America. Despite its squared-off proportions, the headlights maintain a swept back style similar to the global truck.
