2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Patrol Vehicle: Coming to a Rear-View Mirror near You

Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day; it’s important they have the right tools to do their dangerous jobs. Helping serve those that serve others, Chevrolet just announced a new police-ready version of the 2015 Tahoe SUV.

Thanks to brand new EcoTec3 powertrains the new police patrol vehicle (PPV) is more muscular and efficient that the outgoing version. Along with rugged body-on-frame construction it also benefits from specific enhancements for police duty.

One handy feature that many people wouldn’t necessarily think of has to do with the vehicle’s dimensions. They’re essentially identical to today’s Tahoe, meaning all that expensive police equipment can bolt right up to the 2015 model.

This PPV is offered with either rear-wheel drive or automatic four-wheel drive. This is in addition to the available four-wheel-drive special service model.

Chevrolet’s latest PPV utility is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 that’s bolstered with cutting-edge technologies including cylinder deactivation, variable valve timing and direct fuel injection. All told it delivers 355 horsepower with 383 lb-ft of torque. It’s matched exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Lots of high-strength steel, a fully boxed frame, upgraded suspension and an auxiliary electrical system provide lots of capability for law-enforcement representatives. Inside it’s got a 110-volt power outlet and a USB port.

Along with standard 2015 Chevrolet Tahoes the Police Patrol Vehicle is manufactured in GM’s Arlington, Texas facility. Two-wheel drive pursuit and four-wheel drive special service models will be available for order in the first quarter of next year; the four-wheel-drive pursuit vehicle will become available in the second quarter.
