Ford is recalling about 3,100 F-Series ambulances as a sensor issue can cause the engine stall.
The problem stems from a faulty exhaust gas temperature sensor that can cause the engine to stop running, and keep it nonoperational for up to an hour. Only 2011 and 2012 F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty Ambulances (E-Series ambulance shown) equipped with 6.7-liter diesel engines are affected by the recall.
Ford is replacing the sensor free of charge to fix the issue.
The company points out that the issue may also affect non-ambulance Ford Super Duty trucks, though those are not being recalled at this point.
