Legendary go-fast guru Steve Saleen might have something very exciting up his sleeve.

“We haven’t forgotten about the supercar genre,” Saleen said at the L.A. Auto show last week. “We are working on what we’ll call the ‘S8’ and the continuation of the American supercar.”

Among its many automotive accomplishments Saleen’s namesake company is known for building the S7 (pictured). Saleen Inc. had unveiled its S5S Raptor during the 2008 New York Auto Show, but it seemed to disappear after the company was sold off.

At the time, the S5S Raptor was expected to be the spiritual successor to the S7. Since then and since regaining the reigns to the Saleen brand, he has also discussed building “high-performance electric vehicles targeting the zero-emissions segment.”
