Toyota Motorsport GmbH has revealed its GT86 CS-R3 rally car as part of its customer motorsport program.
The popular sports car from Toyota will be converted to R3 specification and made available to private competitors with delivery expected for the 2015 season. Since it will be built for R3 regulations, the Toyota GT86 CS-R3 will feature a six-speed sequential gearbox, a limited slip differential, a modified engine, adapted brakes and other various upgrades.
The Toyota GT86 CS-R3 is targetting private customers and will be eligible for all FIA-sanctioned rallies including the World Rally Championship (WRC). Full specifications on the rally car along with pricing will be made available in the coming months according to the Japanese automaker.
TMG is no stranger to rally racing, having started in 1979 in rally competition and garnering four drivers’ and three manufacturers’ championships in WRC.
