The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette will benefit from the addition of an eight-speed automatic transmission, though it’s unclear whether it will be on the base model or the upcoming Z06.
The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is will make its debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and is being touted as the most track capable Corvette ever. According to a recent publication posting by the International Society of Automotive Engineers, the new eight-speed automatic transmission will replace a six speed to improve fuel economy, performance and NVH.
The American automaker also wouldn’t share how much of a fuel economy improvement the eight-speed transmission adds, nor would it comment on pricing or when it’ll be available. The current Chevrolet Corvette Stingray can be had with a seven-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic.
