Audi, Google Set to Announce Partnership at CES

Audi and Google are expected to announce a partnership next week at the Consumer Electronics Show that will see the two companies work together on next-generation infotainment systems.

The new infotainment systems will be built on Google’s Android operating system and it is believed that other tech companies such as Nvidia will also be involved in the collaboration. The goal is to allow vehicle drivers and passengers to access music, navigation, apps and services that are found on Android smartphones.

Google’s collaboration with Audi is in response to Apple’s collaboration with several automakers that are integrating iOS devices into their infotainment systems. BMW, Mercedes-Benz, General Motors and Honda have all supported Apple’s initiative.

Audi is also expected to show off some of its new autonomous technologies where its vehicles can drive in certain situations and for short periods on their own.
