The last time we talked about the Audi R8 E-Tron, the company said that there were no plans for production, but a new report suggests otherwise.
AutoCar is reporting that the R8 E-Tron, an all electric version of Audi’s high-performance R8, will be produced in a limited run starting in the latter half of 2014. So why the change of heart? Apparently it has to do with an advance in the company’s lithium-ion technology that has boosted the car’s range from 134 miles up to around 250 miles.

Original specifications for the R8 E-Tron claimed that the car was capable of running from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, thanks to 376 hp and 605 lb-ft of torque from two electric motors. That car also had a curb weight of around 3900 pounds, though all of those numbers may change as a result of the battery revisions.
