The 2014 AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Sports Car of the Year, as chosen by you, is the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
Giving AutoGuide readers and viewers their say to pick the vehicles they think are most deserving in six different categories, the Corvette Stingray took top honors in the performance-oriented sports car category. With the ‘Vette also having won the overall 2014 Readers Choice Car of the Year Award, it had to go up against some serious competition to take home the Sports Car of the Year award, beating out the Jaguar F-Type and the Porsche Cayman.
Similar to how the value focused Subaru BRZ won last years Readers Choice Sports Car of the Year award, the Corvette Stingray impressed readers with its fantastic-level of performance and relatively low price. Powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine, the Corvette is available as either a coupe or a convertible, and is fun to drive no matter how you cut it.
“One drive in the new Corvette is all it took for us to know the car is something special,” said AutoGuide.com Road Test Editor Mike Schlee in a recent test of the Corvette Stingray Convertible.
“Those in search of the ultimate performance bargain will once again find the Corvette to be the undisputed champion” said AutoGuide Editorial Director Colum Wood. And obviously, the reader’s agree with our sentiments.
Voting for the Reader’s Choice Car of the Year Awards were AutoGuide.com readers and viewers, as well as members of the AutoGuide forum network, which is comprised of over 12 million registered members on 360 car enthusiast forums.
