Volkswagen is making it easier than ever before to get into a Jetta TDI, announcing a new value edition of the car which starts at $21,295.
The new value edition incorporates most of the feature content from the base model Jetta S and tacks on the TDI motor for those who want diesel power but aren’t interested in interior amenities. Features on the car include electric power steering, 16-inch steel wheels, heated cloth seats, cruise control, a media device interface, and two additional speakers over the S trimmed cars.

The 2.0-liter diesel engine makes 140 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 25 hp over the four-cylinder gas engine that comes in the base Jetta S. In the Jetta TDI, the engine is rated at 30 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway, figures that will carry over to the value edition.
Compared to the standard Jetta TDI (seen above), customers are poised to save $2,330 by going for the value edition.
