FIA Formula E RacecarFormula E is the FIA’s electric racing series and the global organization just announced that its new headquarters will be located at Donington Park Racing Circuit in the United Kingdom.

Formula E Facility at Donnington ParkConstruction began early last month on a new 44,000 square-foot facility that will provide the 10 Formula E teams with office space, stores and workshops. The structure should be able to accommodate more than 150 people.

Like just about everything these days the facility will be earth-friendly and comply with sustainable construction standards, something that’s obviously in line with the goals of Formula E.

The series features electric, single-seat racecars that can reach speeds of 225 km/h (140 miles an hour) or more. The 10 teams each have two drivers and will compete head to head in a totally unique series.

Starting in September Formula E will host races in 10 cities around the world including Miami, London, Beijing and Rio de Janeiro.
