Just like it did at last year’s SEMA Show, Mazda chose to keep its 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon display cars mild rather than running wild.
The Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5 all made an appearance in Tokyo this year, sporting minor exterior modifications that are surprisingly similar to the projects that were presented at the 2013 SEMA Show. All the vehicles feature aerodynamic tweaks, new wheels and Brembo brakes while the CX-5 might be the most extreme of the cars with a matte black exterior and a center-exit dual exhaust system.

The Japanese automaker also got some help from its Mazdaspeed arm, with aero components on the Mazda3 vehicles. Inside, some of the projects also received interior enhancements with the Mazda6 featuring Alcantara trim.
The Mazda3 was named AutoGuide‘s 2014 Car of the Year.
