Porsche is considering raising the production target on its new Macan crossover.

Currently, the German automaker plans on producing 50,000 units of its new compact utility vehicle, but that production figure could rise to 80,000 units at its Leipzig plant. The Macan will reach dealers in April and the German automaker hopes the model will help boost its sales after delivering a record year of 162,145 cars in 2013.

Porsche could potentially hit global deliveries of 200,000 units this year, a goal originally set to be reached in 2018. A Porsche spokesman commented that it was too early to talk about the Macan’s production numbers.

The problem with the Macan is the small cargo hold. I’m sticking with the Cayenne.
