BMW’s first foray into the electric vehicle market, the i3, attracted the most attention on AutoGuide this week.
The i3 can travel between 80 and 100 miles on just electricity, though a small gasoline engine can be installed which adds between 60 and 80 miles of range.
Next up is a different perspective on the 2014 Mazda3. Road Test Editor Mike Schlee’s wife takes the popular compact for drive and shares her thoughts on the car.
One of the last body-on-frame SUVs comes in the third slot this week, the Toyota 4Runner. A 4.0-liter V6 offers 270 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque which nets the big SUV 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg highway.
The 2015 Subaru WRX slots in at fourth this week. A new, smaller, 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine makes 268 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The hopped up STI version is set to debut at the upcoming 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Acura RLX Review finishes the list this week. A 3.5-liter V6 and three electric motors make 377 hp and 377 lb-ft of torque, hooked up to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
