Top 10 Most Fuel Efficient SUVs

Top 10 Most Fuel Efficient SUVs

6. Buick Encore - 28 MPG Combined

Buick is the only American automaker that manages to crack the Top 10 list, with the Encore getting a 25 MPG city, 33 MPG highway rating. That means the budget-minded luxury crossover is good for 28 MPG combined. Powering the Encore is an Ecotec 1.4-liter turbo-four engine with 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. Best of all, the Encore is priced competitively with a starting MSRP of $26,010.

Good point. It’s technically number 1 but we chose to leave it off the list as it’s ultra low volume.

Not one SUV made the list. These are all CUVs. There is a difference.

Good thing you let us know.

It’s too bad that image has rendered the public leery of the much more practical minivan, in favor of the SUV. Funny how, in eschewing the body-on-frame design of earlier generations, and adopting the construction of the minivan, the SUV has become even more the thing. I drive a Toyota Sienna, which seats 8, is extremely comfortable, only costs $30 to fill up, only costs $25/month to insure (thanks to Insurance Panda), and outperforms most SUVs on safety tests…. I love my Sienna and wish people with families would start considering minivans more than SUVs.

It is sad when ‘mom vans’ and glorified ‘hatchbacks’ are considered SUV’s…. Show us some proper SUV’s with some actual fuel economy stats!
