Just a few days ago, AutoGuide‘s spy photographers caught photos of the BMW 3 Series plug-in hybrid testing, but this time around the German automaker has removed the material concealing the cover for the electrical socket.

The 3 Series plug-in is rumored to be called the 320e when it arrives on the market as a 2015 model. Definitive specifications on the 3 Series plug-in hybrid still haven’t been revealed, but it’s likely to share its electric powertrain with the X5 plug-in that is also destined to reach the market soon.

What BMW has revealed in the past is the X5 eDrive concept which used a four-cylinder turbocharged engine mated to an electric motor with 95 hp. When the concept was on display at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the German automaker noted that it could drive up to 19 miles on electric power alone and had a top speed of 75 mph.
