Ford will reportedly drop Microsoft for its next-generation Sync infotainment software, instead turning to Blackberry’s QNX platform.

The American automaker has had numerous issues with the in-car technology software, with glitches and bugs causing a slump in surveys. Many Ford customers have been reporting malfunctioning tech systems and touschscreens in their vehicles with Sync being the culprit, with more than seven million vehicles on the road today with the Microsoft voice-activated software.

when i took pics of my car parked with a 2015 at cars and coffee in irvine, ca i had a chance to talk with one of the designers of the new mustang. he was telling me one of the target cars they track tested against was an m3.

i think ford is getting a little too obsessed with comparing themselves to bmw and porsche after talking to him. this article confirms it.

    terrible idea. sync just works

Microglitch would be going into future Ford vehicles if Ford’s customers were happy. Ford has taken a beating in owner surveys and has decided to cut their losses. Sync clearly is not doing well enough in Ford’s opinion, so they are making a change.
