Mercedes-Benz is considering a baby SUV with the X-Class nameplate, and it could be based on the Renault Captur according to the latest rumors.
According to Mercedes-Benz’s head of research and development, Thomas Weber, the German automaker is considering a model to slot in below the GLA. “We are watching it closely, but there are other gaps in the range that are more interesting,” he said in an interview with AutoExpress.
If the project does get the green light however, don’t expect it to make an appearance until 2016 at the earliest. The German automaker is revamping its entire existing lineup with its new design language and a sportier version of the ML SUV called the MLC is due next year.
